Stefano Zacchiroli will be at OSS4B 2013!

  • We are happy to announce that Stefano Zacchiroli, former Debian Project Leader for a period of three years spanning from 2010 to 2013, is now a confirmed guest speaker for OSS4B 2013.

In his talk, Stefano will present the Debian Project and the Linux distribution, discuss their unique traits, focusing on the ecosystem of both commercial and non-commercial activities that have flourished around Debian.

Debian is one of the most long-lived Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) distributions. The project has been founded in 1993 to foster Free Software distribution and it is still doing so, in an purely community-driven way.

The Debian Project and distribution are both made by volunteers who employ a dual “do-ocratic” (a form of meritocracy based on the outcome of individual work) and democratic model to make decisions and drive Debian toward its goals.

Stefano, originally from Bologna, is currently an associate professor at Paris Diderot University, France.

Stefano has joined the two keynote speakers for OSS4B 2013, Gene Kim and Dragos Dumitriu, adding a taste of community driven open source technologies such as the Debian Project to the list of topics that will be discussed in September.
